Dirty Laundry Vineyard, for Those with a Naughty Side

The minute I stepped into Dirty Laundry Vineyard, I thought, “Where has this place been all my life?!” Nestled in the beautiful Okanagan, Dirty Laundry is a winery unlike others. The story is as interesting as the decor…In the late 1800’s when cattlemen, fur traders and goldminers travelled through the Okanagan, all alcohol had to be purchased from the Hudson Bay Company in Vernon, hundreds of kilometres from where thousands of men were working in the area on the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. One such man, Sam Suey, left the grind of the railway labour and opened his first business, a chinese laundry. Seeing an incredible opportunity, Sam used the upstairs area for gambling and a brothel. I mean, the men dropping off their laundry were in need of other services, right? It was all very hush-hush, but the town knew the secret and began calling Sam’s establishment “Dirty Laundry”.

Fast forward to 2020 and step into this burlesque and boudoir inspired winery. Keeping with the risque themes, they have wines named Hush, A Girl In Every Port, Dangerous Liaison, and of course, Secret Affair. After sampling some of their fantastic wines and browsing through their unique gift offerings (feathers, anyone?) you can enjoy your newly acquired bottle of wine on their sun drenched patio overlooking the Okanagan valley. Wine not really your thing? That’s ok, head over to the Bottoms Up saloon for a craft beer with selections such as Redhead, Brunette, and ahem…Dirty Blonde.

Take the time to stop in this winery when you are driving through the Okanagan. It’s sure to delight all of your senses.
