The great Summer Staycation of 2020 is almost at an end. With travel restrictions in place, more and more Canadians are taking advantage of what this vast country has to offer by exploring places that can be accessed easily by car. I mean, who wants to get on an airplane right now anyway?? One such place this Diva had the pleasure of visiting was a little beauty just outside of Revelstoke, BC called Crazy Creek.
Now, I’ve seen this roadside sign many times on my trek between Calgary and Vancouver, but I’ve never stopped, probably because the words “hike” and “nature” don’t really have a home in my vocabulary, but I spent this summer exploring things I haven’t done in the past, and you know what? I really enjoyed this one!

I hope you like stairs, because to get to this gem, you have to climb them. Lots of them. (but the nice thing is what goes up, must come down, so the exit is easier!) When you reach the top of the stairs, you’ll pay a small fee to enter. This allows you to walk the 240m suspension bridge over the gorge, the viewing platforms, and the short hike to the top. The waterfall is absolutely magnificent. The water was rushing when I visited, probably due to the massive amounts of rain BC experienced early this summer. The sheer force of the water is a sight to behold. Note that you WILL get sprayed, which was very welcomed by me as the temperatures were in the 30s when I was there. Then, this happened…

Even a “5 minute hike” is intimidating to this Diva, but given that I wasn’t wearing my heels on this occasion, I gave it a shot. It was definitely UP, and I noted that I need to hit the gym more often, but it was worth it.
After this, I discovered that another trail leads to the pedestrian overpass over the highway and takes you to the Crazy Creek Resort. This resort offers accommodations in the form of cabins and campsites, as well as a beautiful hot spring pool. Unprepared as I was for the hot springs, I didn’t partake, but I would encourage anyone visiting to take in all this resort has to offer.
Until next time…
Diva xo
